1940s Double Exposure Photograph

A friend of mine described this as an "in-camera double exposure" photograph, however I believe it is a result of some darkroom trickery, mixing two separate images together... the old-fashioned way, in the days before PhotoShop.

Measures appx. 2 3/4" wide by 4 1/2" tall. Condition is Fair/Good, with notable surface wear and was glued into an album at one point.
